Beautiful antique pocket prayer manual. Containing a Selection of Devotions compiled from approved sources. By a priest of the Archdiocese of New York. Published in 1896 by Chas. Wildermann, 16 Barclay Street, New York, New York. Celluloid front, back and spine. Clasp is also celluloid. 3.75″ x 2.75″ x 1. 450 pages of Prayers, Mass, Psalms, Communion, etc. And, 189 pages of Epistles and Gospels. 639 pages in all. Very good condition of a book nearly 125 years old consistent with age and use. Celluloid front, back and spine are intact. Cover inlay of mother-of-pearl and sterling? Silver is fully intact. Back, front and spine celluloid is excellent for the age. Spine is intact, tight pages do not lay open independently, hence the need for the letter opener to hold open pages for photos. Edging on pages is intact, as shown. Inside front page contains handwritten name “Teresa Simonetti”. Inside front page and page 212 have tiny tears approximately. Page 291 has a tear approximately 1.75 (photo 11). Onionskin facing the illustration at front is torn (photo 7, 8). Brass clasp is intact though both attached ends jiggle slightly.
